Outside Sales Representative (OSR)

Location

Multiple Locations - Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine 


Summary

OSR is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with contractors, builders, and construction professionals to drive sales lumber, building materials, and millwork


The role requires strong industry knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage accounts while growing new business opportunities

Responsibilities

  •  Sales and Business Development: Identify and target potential customers, generate leads, and close sales to meet or exceed revenue goals
  • Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong partnerships with contractors, builders, and other industry professionals. Provide expert advise and recommendations based on customer needs
  • Product Knowledge and Consultations: Stay informed about lumber, building material, and millwork products, industry trends, and pricing to provide suggestions and solutions that meet customers' needs and requirements
  • Job Site Visits: Travel to job sires and other customer locations to access customer needs, delivery quotes, and provide hands-on customer support
  • Quoting and Order Management: Work with inside sales team to prepare accurate pricing estimates, process orders, and coordinate deliveries
  • Problem Solving and Support: Address customer concerns, resolve issues, and ensure customer satisfaction throughout the sales process
  • Collaboration: Work closely with inside sales, purchasing and operations teams to ensure product availability and timely deliveries
  • Reporting and Forecasting: Maintain records of sales activities, customer interaction, and market trends to provide insights for current and future business

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in sales, preferably in the lumber, building materials, or construction industry
  • Strong understanding of wood products, engineered lumber, building materials, millwork and blueprint takeoffs
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to work independently
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and project plans (preferred)
  • Valid drivers license and ability to travel within assigned territory
